Canon's upcoming 2024 camera lineup includes these six models.
The year 2024 is officially underway; as of right now, January has arrived and the year has barely begun. We're all curious about the new Canon cameras that will be available in 2024. This year, Canon might introduce a few more cameras.
I've spent a lot of time researching the most recent rumors online. I'll list all of the Canon cameras that will be released in 2024 in this article. I'll include the specifications as well.
Let's examine the first newly released camera!
2024's new Canon cameras
Mark II Canon R5
Canon R1
Canon R7 C
Canon R5 S

Canon R8 (Released)
1. Canon R5 Mark II
The highly desired Canon R5 Mark II camera is up first. A much-anticipated camera, as it has to take the place of the current R5.It looks like the production model will incorporate some of the improvements that we would like to see made in a few areas. Rumor has it that the Canon R5 Mark II is already in testing and will be released in the coming months. Among other things, a brand-new 61 MP full-frame sensor that competes with the Sony A7R V is unveiled. The 8K60p function has also been markedly improved by the cooling.
All in all, the Canon R5 Mark II is the most sought-after new Canon camera to be launched in February 2024.
Technical Specifications:
New 62-megapixel CMOS BSI sensor
DIGIC X2s processor
30 fps electronic burst mode
12 fps mechanical burst mode
The same 8-stop image stabilization
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II (also seen on Canon R3 and R6 II)
Internal 8K 60p (RAW not yet confirmed)
4K 30p/60p/120p video (All oversampled)
FHD 240fps recording
Focus on breathing compensation
60 mins 4K video
Dual CFexpress type B card slots
9.44 million pixel viewfinder
2. Canon R1
The Canon R1 is the second camera on the list. Apart from the R5 II, this is another well-liked camera. The Canon R1 is anticipated in February 2024, as per Canon's statement that the R3 is not their flagship model.
It makes sense that Canon would decide to release the camera at this time, just before the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. These are the specs, that we currently know and they are very impressive:
Technical Specifications:
New 45+ megapixel stacked CMOS BSI sensor
Dual DIGIC X2s processors
9-stop image stabilization
Internal 8K 60p RAW
FHD 240fps recording
Focus breathing corrections
Dual CFexpress type B card slots
9 million pixel viewfinder
3. Canon R7 C
The Canon R7 C, which is a reimagining of the original Canon R7, is the third camera on the list, along with the R5 C. A comparison of the R5 C in the cinema and its original form reveals a few significant differences. The primary distinction is the additional fan that the Canon R7 C will receive—this is done to keep the camera from overheating. This addresses the primary issue with mirrorless cameras, which is that nearly all of the models overheat when producing intense video content.
Although the exact release date of the Canon R7 C is unknown, it is anticipated to occur in 2024.
Technical Specifications:
32.5 MP APS-C sensor
7k 60p video in Cinema RAW Light
4k oversampled 60p video
120 fps FHD video
Mini XLR audio input
DIGIC X processor
Compact design
4. Canon R5 S
We therefore know that the Canon R5 II, the R5's successor, will be available in 2024. There are, however, rumors circulating that a second R5 successor will be out in 2024 as well. This is a Canon R5S, sometimes known as a Canon RS.
As with the Canon 5DS, we anticipate a camera with more megapixels in this instance. Although the precise number is unknown, it is estimated to be between 80 and 100 MP. As a result, Canon can now take on the Fujifilm GFX100 series.
Technical Specifications:
80-100 MP full-frame CMOS sensor
DIGIC X2s processor
8K video mode
4K 120p video mode
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II (Canon R3 and R6 II)
Same ergonomics
5. Canon R50 (Launched)
The Canon R50 is one of the cameras that was released in 2023; the company's sudden release of two cameras was unanticipated. Among other things, we do know that the R50 is a huge success, which makes sense considering the features and cost. It is the replacement for the highly successful Canon M50 II. Although Canon claims that the EOS-M series has not yet been discontinued, I am aware of this.
Alongside the R8, the Canon R50 was released in February of 2023.
Technical Specifications:
24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor
4K 24 or 30 fps
FHD 120fps
15 fps burst mode
3″ very high-quality touchscreen
Lightweight design, like the M50 II
6. Canon R8 (Launched)
Along with the R50, the Canon R8 was also discontinued in February 2023, making them the models that appeared to be the best-selling in 2023. The Canon RP finally had a replacement, a camera with the same form factor but R6 II specifications. With a user interface designed for inexperienced photographers, it's a beginner's camera. If you are still undecided between the R6 II and R8, the decision is clear: purchase the Canon R8 to save money!
Technical Specifications:
24 MP full-frame sensor
DIGICX processor
4K 60p
FHD 180p
No image stabilization
Excellent low-light capabilities
Conclusion
With the release of the Canon R5 II, R1, R7 C, and R5S (RS), at the very least, we can conclude that 2024 will be a successful year for Canon. Because rumors are unpredictable, we are positive that all the specs are accurate, so proceed with caution.
