The future of BGMI in India is unclear because there's a chance that this popular mobile gaming app will be banned again. The woman who played the game and fell in love with an Indian man, Seema Haider, could potentially be connected to the possible ban. Despite being different from PUBG Mobile, the Indian government has expressed concerns about Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) due to possible data transfers to servers connected to China. Concerns concerning the possible misuse of user data, such as location, audio recordings, and other private information, have been raised by these issues.

A News18 article claims that a senior official in charge of law enforcement coordination in the cybersecurity branch of the Union government has recommended ending the app.

Several things have given rise to concerns, such as the entry into India of Seema Haider, a citizen of Pakistan, who supposedly met her partner Sachin Meena through the portal. The Indian government has voiced worries about the possibility of hacks or monitoring using location, audio, and other data obtained by BGMI. This is because PUBG Mobile, which was previously prohibited because of its ties to a Chinese firm [AFK Gaming], was perceived as being a rebranded version of BGMI.

Authorities are eager to ensure that data isn't moved to other servers outside of the US, despite reports that the game's servers are situated there. A thorough investigation of the matter has been sent to Krafton, the organization that created BGMI, and we are eagerly awaiting their response.

What caused the 2022 ban on BGMI?

India outlawed BGMI in 2022 over worries about data security. The government was concerned about potential exploitation of user data, including location and audio, if it ended up on servers that might be connected to China. The previously prohibited PUBG Mobile app's connection to BGMI raised more questions. BGMI is a different app, but the fact that its creators are associated with a Chinese business raised red flags. Due to all of these reasons, BGMI was eliminated in July 2022.
